What Our Guests Think
Walls of Jerusalem
Hi Trek Tours, Just back home from the Walls of Jerusalem. A big thankyou to Declan and Nathan, our guides for this trek who had infinite patience and never ending smiles despite a couple of showery days. Your knowledge of the area – geography, flora and fauna was super informative and much appreciated. Meals were brilliant. Great walking, breathtaking scenery and a super friendly group of walkers. Over the years I have used a few different operators. This was my second trek with Trek Tours Australia and I rate you as my number one preferred operator. Thank you so much for a great week.

I just wanted to thank you for the gorgeous Walls of Jerusalem trek that I did a week ago. I just loved it. It was absolutely stunning, weather was great, Jacob and Stella were stellar (I’m sure it's been said before), enjoyed my fellow walkers, and we virtually had the place to ourselves. I’ve booked in for a full group to do the 6 day Larapinta walk with you (Trek Larapinta) next year, so will have that to look forward to over the coming year.
- Nellie Hall in the Walls of Jeruslaem (March 2017)
A wonderful team of highly professional guides and organisation - I would have no hesitation in recommending your organisation to others. The guides had a wonderful depth and breadth of knowledge which adds to the experience. Tents were good and easy to put up/pull down. Lovely camp sites for the tents. Meals were always enough and very tasty. Cooking under not always easy conditions was very impressive. Particularly loved the porridge and coffee. The wonderful colours in the plants in the central walls and just the atmospherics with the mist and clouds created a magical environment.
- Suzanne Heath in the Walls of Jerusalem (February 2017)
Truly breathtaking week of sites, sounds, and experiences! I was very impressed with the guides, preparation, organization, and overall ADVENTURE I experienced. Holger and Benni were fantastic cooks. It was also great that we had fresh produce throughout the week. They did a great job of shopping and providing quality meals with quality ingredients. None of the food was too heavy for each of us guests to carry in our packs when we moved from site to site. Knowledge of the land, animals, plants, weather, EVERYTHING was incredibly vast. I was extremely impressed and I learned a lot! The supplies provided or rented were of high quality and worked perfectly. Fantastic team and company!
- Lyndsy on the Walls of Jerusalem (December 2016)
Many thanks for the wonderful walk you led through the Walls of Jerusalem. No longer able to carry a full overnight pack, I had resigned myself to never being able to go there, so it was wonderful that you were able to provide us with our cheerful "white Sherpa" in the form of Eric, to lighten our load. Also, I have dietary restrictions which can be challenging to the uninitiated, especially in the bush, so I was very appreciative of the effort Anne made to make my food as varied and interesting as she did. Because I normally eat a very low carb diet, I had forgotten to mention my need to maintain a high protein intake to prevent rebound glucose hypos on the high starch bushwalking diet, so I was especially appreciative of her efforts to keep me supplied with my own stash of salmon and tuna. Most of my bushwalking, especially in previous overnight walks, has been focused on "getting there". After the first day, in which I was obliged to stop frequently just to get my breath, I settled into making regular stops and look-backs, just to take in the wonderful experience. The credit for this must go to the guides, especially the lovely Brad, who were always so relaxed about the pace, and encouraged and supported this. As a result, my best memories were not just the awesome vistas, but the small moments when I stopped to look back at where we'd been, and to sit on a rock and feel the bush around me and notice the small details. I think that will change my walking habits from now on, so that I will be less goal oriented and more centred in the moment. So, thankyou again for a wonderful trip and yet more self-discovery!
- Beth in the Walls of Jerusalem (February 2015)
Thanks for organising our trip and patiently answering our questions. We so appreciated a special trip being organised that allowed us to carry minimum packs. The guides were great and achieved wonderful meals given the list of food allergies etc. Please pass on our thanks to them, we really enjoyed their company.
- Lindy and Denis on the Walls of Jerusalem (February 2015)
There were so many highlights it is difficult to choose just one. On reflection, the whole expedition was an amazing experience, full of many highs and a few challenges. The professionalism of Brad, Kat, Clare and Holger was quietly evident at every turn; their friendliness, knowledge, ability to read our group, encouragement and support should be considered a highlight as this made for a very relaxed and enjoyable travelling group. My personal high was sitting on top of Mt Jerusalem. Wow, what an amazing country we live in. I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of service, support, education, encouragement, equipment, beautiful cuisine and choice provided throughout the trek. To be able to set up camp every night with your own private lake front, river side or bush camp is something we treasure and you managed to provide this time and time again. I would like to congratulate your team for providing such a unique experience, one of extremely high standard but mostly for the enjoyment you create. Our group enjoy life. We are great friends and it is wonderful to be able to share this experience together, especially because we could share it with you. See you next time.

A heartfelt big thank you to Trek Tasmania for providing yet again a fantastic outing in the Australian wilderness. Our 6 days in the Walls of Jerusalem seems like sublime half reality, half dream. Luckily for me, I have always believed in dreams coming true...... Thank you for making it all come true. Well organized (as usual), great guides (Aron & Holger) and a bunch of great people makes for a great outcome. Could not want for anything more. The promise the program held was well and truly honoured. The promise in a land that time hasn't forgotten, it has just left it as is because, really, there ain't much need for improvement! Thank you for sharing the place, your knowledge and your time so generously. Until next time ......
- Dorte on the Walls of Jerusalem (January 2013)
My thanks to Brad, Kat and Jacob for making my first walk so memorable and enjoyable. The scenery was out of this world. Fellow walkers were the best one could wish to have on a walk. Thank you all.
- John Earle on the Walls of Jerusalem (February 2014)
The Walls of Jerusalem! Awesome guides, awesome scenery and awesome fellow bushwalkers. Can't wait for the next one! Thanks for taking us there.
- Libby Gobbary on the Walls of Jerusalem (February 2014)
I would just like to thank your whole team for the tremendous care, love and support shown to our whole group during the full 9 days of this adventure. The Guides definitely had some medical issues to deal with and we could not have asked for better, caring people. They definitely deserve top dollar for this trek. Such cool, calm wonderful guides. I cannot speak more highly of the guides and your business. We will be doing another trip with you again for sure!
- Kerrie Smith on the Walls of Jerusalem (March 2014)
I can only describe our hike as a journey. We were really honoured to been shown such a wonderful and beautiful part of Tasmania. I can't thank Kat, Brad, Holger, and Clare enough for their love and support. They really went well and truely above and beyond their duty of care. The care and support shown to Loris and Ted and their family was amazing and went a long way to making their journey alot easier and shows what wonderful people are involved in the Trek Tasmania company. I have just completed my photos srcapbook and it is a really good snapshot of all the fun, laughter and goodtimes that was had by all. This was a wonderful life journey had by all with many wonderful experiences that will never be forgotten.

Flinders Island
Since returning from Flinders Island, I have been reliving this wonderful week through my numerous photos, and promoting both the island and Trek Tours frequently. Flinders Island is an unspoilt gem on our doorstep. On a sunny day, the beauty of the aqua and dark blue ocean lapping the white sands is stunning. Add to this the wonderful rock sculptures and forms, often adorned with orange lichen, it provides a magical backdrop to any holiday. Being able to explore through extensive walks along the coast, over the rocks, and up the mountains to look back on it all and admire it from afar, is the best way to embrace it. The camping was basic, but the experience was amazing. Guided by the wonderful Anne and Nick, we could enjoy the various walks, learning about this special environment, confident that we would be encouraged and helped if the going got tough. I probably only needed it a couple of times, but it was comforting to know support was there. Sitting in an exquisite National Park area, enjoying the company of your group while sipping a wonderful Tassie wine and having nibbles, knowing a magnificent meal was being prepared for us, was heaven. Watching the sun set after a day of activity, walking and swimming, was wonderful. Equally it was enjoyable to learn of the history of the island, and the balance provided by other activities from the museum visit to a wine tasting was great. As a single female traveller in my 60s, I am enjoying discovering the support available through tours such as this which make it possible for me to do things I love, in the company of like minded people, with professional and friendly support. Thank you Trek Tasmania.
- Rhonda Christopher on Flinders Island (March 2017)
I just wanted to say "thank you" to the group for a marvellous trip to Flinders Island last week. I had a thoroughly good time, and enjoyed it immensely. As with the Larapinta trek, the guides were incredible...it always amazes me how they can smile cheerily no matter what time of day or circumstance, how they support and encourage us when we start to flag, but how they don't push you to go past your limits. Never condescending, always helpful. Sean (Shaun? Darn...wish I'd learned his name better.) was so sweet and caring, Joel so jaunty, and Brad so laid back they made a fabulous team, with such a lovely mix of personalities, and their efforts were truly appreciated. The scenery there is incredible. The campsites were in great scenic locations, walks were so varied and interesting, picnic spots rivalled each other for supremacy, meals were brilliant. Being at the very top of Strzlecki when the mist came through in tongues around the peaks was just unbelievable. So...a huge "well done" to the boys, and to the rest of you crew for another great trip.
- Liz on Flinders Island (February 2016)
Flinders Island was my third hike with Trek Tasmania and you have surpassed my expectations again. This island is a hidden treasure - massive rock formations, sandy coves and bush wilderness. Brad and Andrew are an amazing team who worked extraordinarily hard to ensure each person in the group had a memorable experience. Brad's guiding is enthusiastic and passionate and Andrew is able to produce exceptional cuisine using very basic facilities. The knowledge they each have of Tasmania is outstanding and it was a privilege to be on this tour with them. Every day of the hike was magnificent. The campsites were in secluded areas on what seemed to be our own private beach. The hiking was varied and challenging. Climbing Mt Strzelecki was demanding; but standing on the summit taking in the spectacular panorama was unforgettable. I would also like to complement your pre-tour service. Kym is always on the ball, keeping clients informed and updated. Receipts and confirmations are sent promptly and e-mails responded too quickly. I always feel confident every detail has been covered before the tour commences. I look forward to travelling with Trek Tasmania again. Thanks again for a phenomenal experience.
- Lyn Scott on Flinders Island (February 2014)
For the last week I have been telling people what a wonderful time we had on Flinders Island, and I have just realized I haven't written to you. It was all so perfect, Brad was a wonderful guide, having great confidence in our ability to walk up vertical rock faces (our legs felt like jelly but we did it). Andrews meals were delicious, even though they were produced in the back of a small trailer, and Ben always there to keep the last person company. We were very lucky to have the three of them, whom each in there own way gave us a perfect holiday, lots of laughs, swim time, relaxing walks along empty beaches and challenging walks, and climbs up mountains.
- Deborah Goodson on Flinders Island (February 2015)
Many, many thanks to Trek Tasmania for our wonderful trip to Flinders Island on 23rd February. It was a lovely holiday, well organised, excellent guides, an interesting and varied program and delicious food. What could be better. All your 'behind the scenes' organising paid off and was greatly appreciated - thank you. Brad's leadership style was delightful, always positive and encouraging us to extend ourselves in ways we may not have dared to do or thought possible without his guidance. Deb and I had experienced Andrew's cooking on the Larapinta Trail the year before and it was a lovely surprise to meet up with him again and we are most appreciative of his ability to produce wholesome, tasty fare in any conditions. Ben's youthfulness and enthusiasm was thoroughly enjoyable and his talent for being the 'whip' and not making people feel rushed was great. All in all, thank you Trek Tasmania for the quality of your staff and the trouble they all take to nurture us whilst showing us this beautiful country. A thousand thank you's for a fabulous week on Flinders Island.
- Ann O'Connor on Flinders Island (February 2015)
I was in Australia for 4 weeks and even did a 4 night Great Barrier Reef cruise, but Flinders Island was the highlight - a fantastic 7 days, thank you.
- Sue Daltrey on Flinders Island (February 2014)
We were so lucky with great weather, the walks were fabulous and we had a fun group. Thanks to Brad and Andrew everything went smoothly and I want to send a special thanks to Brad who administered first aid when I cut my hand on a tree stump on the first night! Looking forward to another Trek Tasmania trip in the future.

South Coast Track
I have just walked the stunningly wild and unspoiled South Coast Track in Tasmania with the company Trek Tasmania in February/March of this year. I chose them because I had enjoyed their sister company, Trek Larapinta, which I had used for a fantastic 16-day walk on the Larapinta Trail out of Alice Springs in August 2016 (In fact, I wondered whether I was physically capable of doing the South Coast Track so I had asked one of my Larapinta guides at the end of that hike who, having assessed me—carrying just a light pack—over 260 km, said that I would be up to the South Coast Track). This 9-day full pack hike was challenging (so I did a lot of training, especially with a full pack) but thoroughly enjoyable because of the meticulous planning by the company but, above all, because of the quality of our guides. Both Jacob and Kenna are Tasmanians and they have an intimate knowledge of their “backyard” and an enormous pride in the wild parts of Tasmania. They have really good people skills and are very encouraging, making sure that everybody enjoys the walk. When problems arose—Blisters? Mostly prevented through good advice, but when some popped up, they were quickly patched and pain-free from then on. Medical emergency? Out comes the satellite phone, and advice is received and acted on. Crisis averted. And, like the guides on the Larapinta, they are fantastic cooks—although on the South Coast Track they lacked the Larapinta luxuries of refrigeration and camp ovens—they were still able to turn out tasty, nutritious and energy-filled meals using very simple equipment. And the coffee they made every morning I can honestly say is some of the best I’ve ever had. Jacob and Kenna carried very large (and heavy) packs and that made our lives a lot easier, even though our packs were fairly heavy. The guides gave us clear briefings of what to expect—what the terrain would be like, how much water to carry, how to preserve the environment. I’m from Western Australia and this is my third walk in Tasmania in just over two years (after independently walking the Overland Track and then the Three Capes Track). Even though I have done a fair bit of hiking, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to tackle this iconic walk on my own because of its isolation, potential for bad weather and creek crossings (and, let’s face it, because of my age)—and if I had, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much as I did with Jacob and Kenna, and a wonderful group of six other adventurers. Highly recommended. Arthur
- Arthur Wright on the South Coast Track February 2017
Warrick, Jacob and Benni looked after us very well, informed us of the dangers or what to look for prior to starting the daily walk. It was an overall challenging, gratifying and wonderful experience thanks to the trio. Thanks heaps for the adventure, falls and laughs. The highlight was careful manoeuvring of everybody through the trees and also crawling up to the top of the iron bound ranges - the best feeling! As a first timer on a long trek I loved the gear that I hired, especially the pack. It was fantastic and it saved my back; great contour and support for the back. The tent was very easy to set up and dismantle. The guides were friendly, composed, knew about the fauna and flora, the leadership was fantastic. Campsites were amazing.
- Olga on the South Coast Track (December 2016)
I really do feel a part of the Trek Tasmania family and that is because of the way every member of the Trek Tasmania Team goes out of the way to make our trekking experiences so special – from the way you respond to all our questions in such a timely way and with such helpful advice, to the way the guides shape the trek to take into account the needs of the group (and always pick the right moment to bring out the chocolate), to the way Holger just appeared on both our trip briefing/gear check and on the last day to pick us up for lunch and to take us back to Hobart . It is all those little touches that mean I will keep coming back to Trek Tasmania for more and more. I had a wonderful, exhilarating, awe-inspiring South Coast trek. We certainly did get to experience all the South Coast can offer in terms of weather conditions – hail, blustering winds, rain and glorious sunshine. Dealing with those conditions made the trek all that more memorable for me, but it was only because of the brilliant leadership of our guides – Jacob and Warwick – that I had the confidence to complete the South Coast track (something I have been yearning to do for ages). Nothing I write could reflect just how highly I think of Jacob and Warwick. They were absolutely wonderful. I really appreciated their positive attitudes, good humour and calmness in the face of pretty wild weather conditions and some serious mud/leeches/water crossings. It was so reassuring to have two guides who were prepared to handle every situation the trek threw at us. They were true jacks-of-all-trades - being navigators, rowers, doctors and chefs (just to mention a few!). It was such a luxury to have our camps prepared and meals made for us every day. We earned the envy of all the independent walkers for the food we were served. The rest day was particularly memorable – pancakes, sushi and a curry with fresh naan bread…seriously yummy after our experience on in the Ironbound Ranges. My tastebuds have also been awakened to the pleasure of Bengal spice tea – when I drink it now it always brings back memories of camp. I will definitely be travelling with Trek Tasmania in the future.

I would like to pass on my thanks for a great South Coast Track walk. Guides Brad, Jacob & Eric were fantastic, great cooks and inspired a lot of confidence on a challenging trek. A wonderful experience.

Walking the South Coast Track with Trek Tasmania provided us with a truly unique opportunity to experience this magnificent walk with professionals happy to share their vast knowledge, passion and experience. The logistics of the trip were handled smoothly and without fuss. The food was incredible and Holger and Brad's ability to dish up the most amazing and delicious meals in true wilderness has to be be tried to be believed. Thank you Trek Tasmania - because of you we loved our trip from start to finish and all parts in between. We look forward to our next trip with you.

A great trip. I loved it and felt great afterwards. Highlights were the beach walking, seeing the Elephant Seal, the New River Crossing and eating the fresh crayfish and abalone. Already
- Kat on the South Coast Track (February 2013)
What a great experience. We saw and experienced things that we would never have done if we weren't on the tour. The highlight was the walk up and down the Ironbound Range and swimming in the lagoon at Osmiridium. Oh, and also eating fresh crayfish and abalone! Thank you.

Frenchman’s Cap
I really enjoyed the trip. I knew this trip would be challenging given I have been to Lake Tahune before. I got rained out last time I tried to get to the top of Frenchman's Cap, so to actually get to the top was a real achievement, especially on such a nice day. The food was some of the best I have ever had when hiking. The guides (Ben & Sean) did a fantastic job of keeping us fed and providing support & encouragement for everyone. There certainly was some physical achievements and highlights for everyone on the trip. I thought everyone coped quite well and some had to dig deep to get through some of the days. I will certainly try to get another trip with Trek Tours, probably the 9 day Larapinta trek next year, but getting the time off is the main challenge. Many thanks for providing a well organised trip and I hope to do more with you in the future as there are many more parts of central & northern Australia I have yet to see.
- Mike Mahar on Frenchman's Cap (March 2016)
I commend Brad & Ben, I thought they did a super job & really took care of my allergy food intake. Please pass on my regards. The trip met all my expectations - good trekking, good company, good guides - thank u & your company.
